Who: I’m Stack, a divorced mother of 3-Numbah One Son (20), Rainbow Shoes (17), and The Girl (13). Sometimes my sister Doe will contribute if she wants.
What: Something Shiny is my way of updating out of towners on what our gang is up to. I think it’ll mostly be Mom reading this, but who knows, maybe The Uncles and my Aunt Toot will stop by on occasion too.
Where: Somewhere in the Western US of A
When: Whenever I have something to say, which my mom would tell you is pretty much all of the time.
Why: Because I’m horrible at mailing (or e-mailing) pictures to my poor mother and all of the out of towners, and not a whole lot better at writing letters and e-mail. I sure wish this had been available when the kids were younger…..
How: How did I come up with the name Something Shiny? Doe, Rainbow Shoes, and I have ADHD, and have a combined attention span of approximately 17 seconds. Something Shiny is what we call anything that distracts one of us and takes us off topic. Trust me, it happens often, and without warning.

Today was a big day for The Girl. She got her braces! She was so excited to finally get them on, and now she is very, very sore. She’s a good sport though, and a pretty tough cookie, which of course she gets from her mother. I bought her a large Frosty and gave her 2 ibuprofen, which helped quite a bit. 
She gets to make a shopping list for all the soft foods she’ll need for the next few days, which makes her feel pretty special. Her big brothers have promised to bring her milkshakes too. Sometimes they annoy her, because that’s their job, but at times like this, they’re good at spoiling her, which is also their job. :0)

Here is the latest addition to our crew. Her name is Capone, and she was given to us by Bubatz ( http://bubatz.wordpress.com/ ). She is our sweet, timid, silly girl, and we adore her! Oh, and the photo below makes her look blind, but she’s not.
More on the rest of our 4-legged friends to come. I’ll even be a good mom and post about the kids now that they’re almost all growed up. I know I should have posted about them first, but this was easier….

Okay,
I have no idea what I’m doing here. It’ll take time to get this site figured out and get my page set up. Or maybe it’s *our page*. I don’t know if the sisters will join me and post or not–we’ll see. There won’t be much to look at or read for a while, because time is at a premium right now (that’s code for I’m Lazy And Sometimes I’d Rather Read A Book) :0)
